Let’s admit it, Apple’s iPhone 3GS and Palm’s Pre have been hogging all the limelight since they shipped in, but what about the other mobile phone brands like Nokia and LG? How did they fare after?
Hello Nokia?
Nokia’s a global mobile phone company, but it seems in the US, they’re holding on to a thread. Gadget Lab posted a list of why Nokia’s failing. Here are just some excerpts from the post:
When was the last time you saw a Nokia commercial on TV or an ad in the paper? While the company’s rivals such as Apple, Palm and Research In Motion have been competing to get more airtime for their products, Nokia has chosen to be more low-key in its approach. The result has been that the average American consumer doesn’t really lust for a Nokia phone.
That reminds me that with all the various Nokia mobile phones out there, why couldn’t there be more exposure through ads? Maybe that’s the problem? There’s just too many Nokia phones out there to advertise or is this a budget problem? Nevertheless whatever the reason maybe for Nokia’s lack in exposure in the US, they need to get back on the saddle fast or it’ll lose the race by year end.
LG Chocolate BL40: sweet gadget!
Next up is LG with its newest, sweetest phone to date: the Chocolate BL40.
It’s chocolatey sweet if you compare it to other mobile phones these days (yes, include theiPhone and Pre there!). So far there hasn’t been any actual sighting, but teasers instead:
All we can say is: “oooh!”, “thin!”, “4 inches of touch screen goodness!” and some other expletive-laden positive adjectives. Here’s the specs coming from Engadget:
That said, what we’ve got is nothing short of drool-worthy: the rumored 21:9 800 x 345 display appears real (which is said in the video to be 4 inches diagonal), plus there’s a gorgeous Flash-based 3D UI, multitouch, AGPS, WiFi, 7.2Mbps HSDPA, and a glass screen surface that’s said to be scratch-proof, all packed into an impossibly thin case.
so far we haven’t read or heard anything yet as to when this will be available, but once we do we’ll post it right away!
