Transferring files from one computer to another can be a bit of a bummer. It is mostly a chore and demands quite a bit of elbow grease to get done. It is either you get both computers connected into the same network and turn file sharing on or you use some drive to transport the files. You can also email the file to yourself, which is useless if the file is bigger than 10 megabytes or so. Needless to say, the process has been quite a hassle so far and there could be a better way to do this. So, here is a pretty cool solution – the iTwin.
This is not two USB flash drives in one or something like that. These are basically two USB devices that can be plugged into both computers and be used as an automatic link. Whatever files you put into one drive will just appear in the other. It is almost like your files are doing teleportation.
These iTwins have wireless connection through the Internet. It is like a double-ended USB cable without the cable and it actually works. With the number of USB peripherals available in the market today, this type of peripheral should be on the top of whatever list there may be due to its function.
As a new and easier solution for file transfer, this product should do well in the market. The creators of the iTwin are hoping to have this out by early 2010 for $99. Of course, it is still a fairly new product, so the price is understandable. As time goes by, the prices will drop and competition will sprout up. The nature of the market will take care of itself and have things on an equilibrium, so you can purchase such devices for a lower cost. You can then transfer files between computers more easily and on the cheap.
