With the Nokia N900 Smartphone coming in October 2009, most people who are into the bleeding edge are now falling in line with €500 in their poket to avail of this new innovation from telecommunications giant Nokia. Not only does it guarantee to offer the usual packages that you can find in any smartphone, but you can also get high quality video and many other insanely-good features from this new product.
While it can never really beat a netbook in terms of functionality in proportion to size, but the N900 does get pretty close. Perhaps it doesn’t really have to explain itself once it gets to the palm of your hand, but here is a rundown of whatever it can do when it does get released.
Back in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, having a 600 MHz processor in your desktop computer means that you are in the cutting edge of consumer electronics. In 2009, however, the Nokia N900 will possess the same power as what a Pentium III processor had back in 2001. Having 1GB of memory for your running applications also means that your smartphone won’t be slow on the draw at all.
As for storage space, 32GB may not seem much, but with something that is smaller than a netbook, it is more than you can handle for now. You can definitely upload your videos and music into this thing without any problems, which is even more so if you add in a 48GB MicroSD card for a potential total of 80GB of storage space in a phone.
Of course, a smartphone can no longer be complete without Wi-fi connectivity with a maximum bandwidth of 54MBPS, which is the standard for 802.11g wireless broadband connections. This is insanely good for a mobile device, which is definitely a good sign of technological progress.
These features along with high quality audio and video, as well as still and video camera functionalities that can blow most entry-level cameras in the market out of the water, the Nokia N900 is a must buy. The built-in GPS and user-friendly design with QWERTY keyboard does not hurt either. The wait is definitely worth it.
