Polk Audio is well known for good quality audio equipment, and they are now deciding to cover gaming audio with their newest line of products. The challenge here is not being able to provide quality, but compatibility with most systems. Also, configurations for each separate console or PC gaming system may be different from those of conventional audio systems. This is where Polk is trying their best in bringing good gaming audio with the Polk Audio HitMaster. With most gaming trends in today’s mainstream market involving a lot of audio, especially music-oriented games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band, Polk is aiming to provide the best audio peripherals that will maximize anyone’s gaming experience in one go.

Either standalone or an addition to your standard definition speakers on either your computer or TV, the Polk Audio HitMaster aims to enhance audio for most gaming systems that utilize most standard formats. This new line boost sonic output and audio quality, despite its unassuming appearance. It consists of a single-point stereo design, which may raise eyebrows. It may look like a single speaker, but its actually two 2.5×5.5″ horns and two 1″ neodymium tweeters surrounding a 6.5″ woofer. This configuration aims to provide as much clear treble and bass in the smallest package possible. Perhaps it may also mean that it is densely packaged enough to carry around at the back of your car for whatever gaming parties you may throw around with your friends in someone else’s house. With this, you would be carrying around a total home stereo system in just one speaker box.

With 80 watts of power, 60 watts RMS, and a frequency range of 40-Hz-20KHz, you will not miss much while watching cutscenes of your favorite console RPG or action game. The only problem is that it will not be available during the holidays as the release date is at around early 2010, priced at a sensible $99.99.
