Definitely there always comes a time for the upgrades. This time around the Nintendo Ds has got a little bit bigger and much larger than its predecessors. Just by taking a look at the unit itself, questions baffled and run through my mind in many directions. Who would want to have a Nintendo DSi XL when we are already been bombarded with the Nintendo DSi a few months ago that is much smaller than the original?

The answer to this question is that could be going bigger means better? Let’s see and find out. With a quick glanced on the handset, you can determine it is indeed fat showing its thickness in the upper body revealing two giant, behemoth screens that made us drool in shock and amazement.

The 4.2 inch-screens compared to the much smaller 3.25 inch screens of the previous DS of the standard DSi makes this little baby a huge leap in terms of physical attraction. Having a large screen does have its flaws and drawbacks. Considering the huge screen it still has the same 256×192 resolution, therefore larger screens may tend to produce larger pixels making the graphics having like a blockier look.

We might expect large control buttons on the d-pad considering its size, but then again the guys at Nintendo kept the buttons still at the same size. When it comes to functionality, it’s still the same to its older brother the DSi. Boot speeds are very much the same and the menus are identical.

The only big change in improvement would be the physical appearance of the handheld console itself. The sheer size of the screen would be the most noticeable improvement of the DSi. Having this enormous size and weight, it would be wise that you should stay away the console from your pockets and handbags.

The Ratchet and Clank universe just got bigger and better. Insomniac has released another of its famed killer series that made many Play station gamers go loco. Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack In Time is the latest entry of the Ratchet and Clank universe. It all started in Tools of Destruction and Quest for Booty, this time around in Crack In Time, it feels like it would be the best next-gen trilogy. Everything is neatly polished and has made a huge leap over the previous Ratchet and Clank games.

Crack In Time is packed with many humorous scenes and footage. Be it from Quark’s Crayon drawings or Mr. Zurkon’s funny one-liners every little tidbits of dialogues equates to one hell of laughter that made it unique from most of the series. In the past few games of the series, there were always Clank segments that made the game amusing. Ratchet is still the star of the game with third person shooting RPG elements. Blasting you enemies with your gadgets and jumping their heads is still as entertaining. There are still not much weapons as those from the past but with some extra cool ones.

Voice acting is average with Ratchet sounding the same old Ratchet from the past games and Dr. Nefarious and along with his associates still hit the same tune with the rest of the bunch. As for the Music score, the sound fits nicely but not that quite memorable. You might not appreciate it much with all the blasting of enemies around but there is always the occasional radio stations to have for those space segments. For the graphics, the game is cel-shaded; Insomniac was right about that considering it fit quite nicely.

Overall the game looks great on the PS3 and will not be overshadowed by other games this coming Holiday Seasons.

The series franchise that brought the gaming community on its knees is back for another release. This time around the PlayStation Portable is going in for one kick ass whooping with Rockstars Grand Theft Auto: China Wars.

No one would ever believe that Rockstar would import the game to the PSP since it was a DS exclusive since then, maybe the tide has turn. Rockstar has been known to make games with mature content and without a doubt the Grand Theft Auto series is the franchise that made everything clear that blood and mayhem really equals to one hell recipe for disaster.

The result for China Wars going in for a nose dive for the PSP is incredibly fun and entertaining indeed. The game itself is jammed packed full of mini games that would make any PSP game last more than you paid for.

The PSP version of China Wars is superb, considering the new features it has specially made for the system. The widescreen version of the game is top-notch with cel-shaded visuals, new instrumental radio stations, new missions that includes an endless supply of addictive rampage opportunities to wreak havoc in the city. The PSP version and the DS are not the same considering the tweaks Rockstar made when it comes to the mini games.

It is still a Grand Theft Auto game though, sandbox style game play, missions to complete and the like. The new missions are insanely addictive, but it does not mean an excuse to repurchase the game. Sadly though, Rockstar didn’t manage to go out for the full musical library and voice acting for the characters. But still they manage to tie up the ropes to make this game fun and enjoyable enough to most Grand Theft Auto fans out there. Grand Theft Auto: China Wars still is a great game with a few minor flaws but still manage to be a blast from start to end.

Formally known as Gran Turismo 4 Mobile, Gran Turismo for the PlayStation Portable has finally been released after frequent delays. Gran Turismo was intended to be the flagship game of the PlayStation Portable. The game is centered much more around like a sandbox type of game. The career mode is not quite that serious to play with. The single player mode is simply mediocre in nature, take into consideration there are only three variables to choose from: Time Trial, Single Race and Drift Trial, Car Selection and Track Selection. Players pick from the car of their choice, choose their circuits they want to race, the difficulty and the number of laps they have chosen and they are all ready to go.

Gran Turismo is available in both UMD which can be purchased at any retail store or as a digital download through Sony’s PlayStation Store. The game features over 800 licensed manufactured cars to play with, and for the first time ever in the Gran Turismo series, Bugatti and Lamborghini models are included in the game. There is no damage system in the game so crashing during the race does not create any bumps or smears with your car. There are a total of 35 tracks included, which can either be played in forward or reverse mode, for a close of 70 track layouts in total.

Gran Turismo is geared up towards driving missions in order for you to progress in the game, compared to its older brother which is fairly an open-ended map. The new trading system is added in to the game for players to acquire new cars. Ad-hoc multiplayer mode is supported and up to four players can join simultaneously. It is hinted that Gran Turismo can be played through online via the PS3 application known as Adhoc Party of the PlayStation Portable.

Sony has just recently added a new addition to their new handheld video game consoles the PSP GO. It was released just recently last October 1, 2009 in American and European countries and a scheduled November 1, release in Japan. The PSP GO’s was revealed last E3 2009 through Sony’s Qore VOD service. The PSP GO’s has undergone some unique changes, significantly different from those of its predecessors. The PSP GO is not intended to substitute or replace the PSP-3000 models since Sony will still continue to sell, manufacture and support the current system.

The new PSP GO has been physically redesigned from top to bottom. Just by looking at it you can already see the difference in terms of physical appearance. Unlike the other previous PSP models the PSP GO has dropped the idea of using UMD discs instead it now packs a huge 16GB internal flash memory to store games, video, pictures and other sort of media. It can also be extended up to 32GB of memory using Sony’s Memory Stick Micro (M2). Unlike the previous PSP models the PSP GO’s rechargeable battery is not replaceable or removable by the user.

Technically the PSP GO has been shrunk down to the very bottom. It is now 42% lighter and 55% smaller than the original PSP-1000 and 34% smaller and 15% lighter compared to the PSP-3000 models. The PSP GO sports in a 3.8” 480×272 LCD compared to its older brothers to the much larger 4.3” 480×272 pixels LCD. The main controls of the system are tucked in and hidden from view. But sliding it upwards reveals the main controls underneath the system.

The PSP GO also has some additional features which includes a Bluetooth technology and built-in wi-fi connectivity rather than the standard USB A-to-Mini B cable most commonly found in electronic devices. With the addition of Bluetooth connectiviy the PSP GO can also be paired up with the PS3 and other Bluetooth devices.

Sakar International is getting into the Wii MotionPlus game with a line of accessories for the highly anticipated motion-control enhancement to Nintendo’s Wii Remote game controller. The new products, available immediately at Toys ‘R Us, are being released to coincide with this month’s launch of the new Wii expansion device as well as the first MotionPlus-compatible Wii games.

Sakar’s first five MotionPlus accessories include tennis rackets, baseball bats, golf clubs, zappers and racing wheels, all belonging to Sakar’s new iConcept Game Fury series. An accessory kit for the new Wii Sports Resort gaming collection will be released when that title debuts in July. MSRPs for all SKUs will range from $9.99 to $19.99.

The Sakar accessories will attach to the Wii MotionPlus’ expansion port, providing more realistic gameplay that fully leverages the improved motion detection of the device. Analysts have predicted sales of up to 10 million MotionPlus units by the end of 2009 because of the ability to precisely mimic gamers’ hand movements when combined with the Wii Remote’s existing accelerometer and sensor bar.

The new Sakar SKUs will expand the company’s existing line of Nintendo accessories, including products for the Wii and DS Lite. Separately today, Sakar also announced a 20-SKU lineup of Nintendo protective cases and other Nintendo accessories that will carry iCarly and SpongeBob SquarePants branding as part of a license agreement with Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products.
